Atebubu, Bono East Region – Tragedy has struck the community of Adom in Atebubu after the lifeless body of a five-year-old girl, Makimor Yagyeger, was discovered three days after she went missing.
Her body was found floating in stagnant water on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the town. Eyewitnesses who first spotted her remains immediately alerted the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which carried out a recovery operation.
Confirming the incident to Adom News, Station Officer I Kabori Sakari of the Atebubu GNFS urged residents to remain vigilant around water bodies, particularly during the rainy season when such risks are heightened.
The discovery has left many residents in grief and disbelief. While some community members believe the death may have been accidental, others suspect foul play and are calling for a full-scale investigation to uncover the circumstances behind the tragedy.
“We want answers and justice for this little girl. It is too painful and suspicious to ignore,” one resident told reporters.
The body of Makimor Yagyeger has since been handed over to the police for autopsy and further investigations.
