French forward Christopher Nkunku is set to leave Chelsea for AC Milan after both clubs reached a verbal agreement in principle over a permanent transfer.
According to transfer insider reports, Milan and Chelsea are finalizing the paperwork today, with the transfer fee expected to be around €35 million plus add-ons.
Nkunku, 27, has already given the green light to the move, having agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with the Italian giants.
A Fresh Start in Italy
Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 but endured a frustrating spell at Stamford Bridge due to injuries and inconsistent playing time. Despite showing flashes of his attacking quality, he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
For AC Milan, the move represents a major attacking reinforcement as the Rossoneri look to reclaim dominance in Serie A and make a deep run in the Champions League under Stefano Pioli.
Chelsea’s Transfer Strategy
The deal also forms part of Chelsea’s ongoing squad restructuring, as the club seeks to balance its books while offloading high-profile players who have not fully settled in London.
Nkunku’s switch to Milan is expected to be completed once the documents are signed and medicals conducted, paving the way for one of Serie A’s most exciting transfers of the summer window.
