Four people have been injured in a car and stabbing attack at a synagogue in Manchester on Wednesday morning, an incident that coincided with Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), officers were called at 9:31 BST after reports that a vehicle had been driven at members of the public outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue. One man was also stabbed during the attack.
Police confirmed that four people sustained injuries from both the vehicle and stabbing. Emergency services treated the victims at the scene before transferring them to hospital. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.

The suspect was shot by armed police and is believed to be dead, according to Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.
The incident has sparked alarm within Manchester’s Jewish community, which had gathered in significant numbers for Yom Kippur prayers. GMP said investigations are ongoing and urged the public to remain calm.
Security has since been tightened at synagogues across the region as a precaution.
Authorities are yet to confirm whether the attack is being treated as terrorism-related.
