Residents of Behenase, near Kwahu Fodoa in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region, have been left in a state of fear and disbelief following the gruesome killing of a 52-year-old woman identified as Yaa Atua.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred when a young man, believed to be in his early thirties, allegedly attacked the woman with a cutlass after accusing her of witchcraft.
Eyewitness Kojo Aboagye told Adom News that the suspect confronted the victim, hurled accusations of witchcraft at her, and proceeded to launch a violent assault before fleeing the scene.
The deceased’s brother, Agya Noah, confirmed that the family promptly reported the matter to the police, who have since commenced investigations into the incident.
“This is a shocking and painful loss for us,” he said. “We just want justice for our sister.”
The killing has thrown the entire Behenase community into mourning, with many residents expressing outrage over the increasing wave of witchcraft-related attacks in parts of Ghana.
Local leaders have called on law enforcement authorities to expedite investigations and ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice.
Meanwhile, police have assured the public that efforts are underway to track down and arrest the suspect as part of ongoing investigations.
