The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that beginning Monday, October 6, 2025, it will start issuing Ghana Cards to children aged 6 to 14 years who have already completed their registration process.
According to a statement from the Authority, the first phase of the distribution exercise will take place across 56 districts, targeting schools where the initial registration was conducted.
Parents and guardians of registered children are required to present the registration receipt (Form A) issued during the initial enrollment before collecting the cards.
The NIA noted that it has successfully cleared all pending printing backlogs, ensuring a smooth rollout of the child Ghana Card issuance programme. The remaining districts will be covered in subsequent phases of the nationwide exercise.
The Authority also announced that new registration dates for children who have not yet enrolled will be communicated soon.
It further appealed to parents and guardians to cooperate fully with NIA officials to ensure a successful and orderly process across all participating schools.
“We urge all parents and guardians to support this important national exercise, which forms part of efforts to build a comprehensive national identity system for all citizens,” the statement read.
The initiative marks a major step in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to expand its national identification coverage to include children, ensuring that every citizen has a unique identity from an early age.
