Three people, including a mother and her son, have lost their lives in a tragic accident at Ohene Nkwanta on the Accra-Kumasi Highway in the Ashanti Region.
The crash occurred on Sunday when a BMW (registration GE 4700-20) traveling from Kumasi to Accra reportedly attempted a wrongful overtaking and collided head-on with a Toyota Yaris taxi (registration AS 3861-24) near the Rider Iron and Steel Company.

According to eyewitness accounts, the impact of the collision was severe, leaving both vehicles mangled. Two victims — the taxi driver and one passenger — died instantly at the scene, while a female passenger succumbed to her injuries shortly after being rushed to the Hope Care Hospital at Odumasi.

Several occupants of the BMW sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Konongo Government Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Police have commenced investigations into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash and hold those responsible accountable.
This latest accident adds to the growing number of fatal crashes recorded on the busy Accra-Kumasi Highway, raising renewed concerns about reckless driving and adherence to road safety regulations.
