Charles Bissue Names Kennedy Agyapong the Transformational Leader Ghana Needs
Accra, Ghana — Charles Bissue, former head of the Inter-Ministerial Committee against Illegal Mining (IMCIM), has publicly endorsed Kennedy Agyapong as the kind of transformative figure Ghana needs, citing his entrepreneurial roots and grassroots connection.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Bissue argued that Agyapong’s blend of empathy, compassion, and results-oriented leadership sets him apart. He criticized what he sees as Ghana’s tendency to defer to external institutions like the IMF and the World Bank in addressing economic problems—urging instead for internal solutions driven by capable leadership.
“I have confidence in Kennedy Agyapong because for him, empathy [and] compassion… you know, hitherto we look at politics from the point where we come up with a lot of theories and then in the end we say IMF or World Bank, when I think that we should have factored all those in,” Bissue stated.
He also emphasized Ghana’s natural resource wealth, saying that the country has all it needs to export finished goods, rather than remain dependent on importing them. Bissue believes that Agyapong’s private sector experience and rapport with ordinary Ghanaians make him well-suited to drive Ghana toward industrialisation and economic self-reliance.
“Looking at the qualities of Kennedy, most Ghanaians are saying that ‘bring Kennedy, we will vote for him,’” he added.
