The one-week observance for Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba—real name Charles Kwadwo Fosu—has been officially relocated to Black Star Square (Independence Square) in Accra. The event remains scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025.MyJoyOnlineMyNewsGh
Originally slated to take place at the University of Ghana Sports Complex, the venue change follows a directive from the La Traditional Council, which imposed a noisemaking ban in the La Traditional Area from August 11 to September 5, 2025—a period that includes the Homowo festival.MyJoyOnlineclassfmonline.com
Rather than postponing the event, Daddy Lumba’s family and the funeral planning committee opted to move the observance to prevent disruption. A public statement on the artist’s official channels read:
“We wish to inform you that the One-Week Observation for the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu (Daddy Lumba) will take place as scheduled on Saturday, 30th August 2025. Please be advised that the venue has been changed to Black Star Square (Independence Square), Accra. We deeply regret any inconvenience this change may cause and sincerely appreciate your understanding and support as we commemorate the life of Charles Kwadwo Fosu.”
The move ensures the continuing celebration of the iconic musician’s life while respecting community regulations and cultural sensitivity.
