Fatal Accident Claims Lives of Bechem SDA District Members Returning from Camp Meeting
Bechem, Ahafo Region — A tragic accident has claimed the lives of several members of the Bechem Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) District as they returned from a spiritual camp meeting over the weekend.
Eyewitnesses report that the incident occurred when the vehicle transporting the church members was involved in a collision along the Bechem–Techiman highway. The cause of the crash is yet to be officially confirmed, but preliminary accounts suggest brake failure may have played a role.
According to local authorities, multiple passengers sustained severe injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. The deceased have been transported to the morgue as families and church members grapple with the sudden loss.
The SDA Church leadership in Bechem has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a devastating blow to the community.
“Our hearts are broken. These were faithful members who had just concluded a weekend of worship and fellowship. We ask the nation to join us in prayer for the bereaved families and the injured,” a church spokesperson said.
Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash, while the Ghana National Road Safety Authority has renewed calls for regular vehicle maintenance and stricter enforcement of road safety regulations.
