GES Refutes Reports of Teacher Kwadwo’s Reinstatement
The Ghana Education Service has debunked media reports suggesting that popular comedian and education activist, Michael Owusu Afriyie, widely known as Teacher Kwadwo, has been reinstated.
In a press statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the Service clarified that the information being circulated is false and misleading.
“Mr. Owusu Afriyie has not been reinstated into the Ghana Education Service,” the release stated.
Background
Teacher Kwadwo, who gained national attention for combining comedy with education advocacy, was dismissed in 2021. Since then, he has repeatedly voiced his dissatisfaction with the decision, describing it as unfair.
Position on Reinstatement
According to the GES, if Mr. Owusu Afriyie still believes his dismissal was unjust, he has the right to submit a formal petition for review through the appropriate channels.
The Service further cautioned the general public and media outlets to disregard the false reports and rely only on official communications.
Conclusion
The clarification puts to rest widespread rumours about Teacher Kwadwo’s alleged return to the classroom. For now, the Ghana Education Service maintains that no reinstatement has taken place.
