Ghana Bar Association Refutes Claims of Snubbing President Mahama
The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has denied allegations that it overlooked inviting President John Dramani Mahama to its 2025 Annual Conference in Wa, describing such reports as false and misleading.
In an official statement, the Association clarified that President Mahama was formally invited and has confirmed his attendance as Guest of Honour at the event.
Invitation Timeline
According to the GBA, an informal invitation was initially extended during a courtesy call in March 2025, followed by a formal invitation letter sent on July 21, 2025. The Presidency acknowledged receipt of this letter on July 29, and an official acceptance letter was received by the Association on August 1, 2025.
The GBA explained that its practice of publicizing conference notices prior to receiving confirmations from invited guests is a standard procedure, consistent with past conferences.
2025 Annual Conference Highlights
The 2025 Annual Conference is expected to draw prominent legal professionals from Ghana and abroad. Notable attendees include international dignitaries such as the Chair of the Bar Council of England and Wales, underscoring the event’s significance in the legal community.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency and professionalism in its communications and proceedings, urging the public to disregard misleading reports circulating in some media outlets.
