GJA Chairman Kofi Adu Domfeh Visits OTEC FM, Ushers in New Era for Ashanti Region Journalism
Kumasi, Ashanti Region — The newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Kofi Adu Domfeh, made his first official media call as chairman at OTEC 102.9 FM on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The courtesy visit reflects his commitment to strengthening collaboration with media houses across the region.
Mr. Domfeh used the opportunity to outline key priorities for his term in office, which include expanding training opportunities for journalists, especially those working outside the city of Kumasi. He emphasized that such initiatives are critical in uplifting reporting standards and enhancing professional competence.
“Together with the team, our vision for the GJA in the Ashanti Region includes capacity-building initiatives, such as regular training workshops in investigative journalism, digital reporting, and fact-checking.”
He also underlined the role of a strong and vibrant media sector in fostering development and good governance. According to him, the media must embody professionalism to serve society effectively.
Background: Kofi Adu Domfeh, a senior news editor at the Multimedia Group, won the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship after a re-run election on August 22, 2025, defeating rival Georgina Ama Ankomah by 20 votes to 11. His election has been positively received among regional media practitioners.
