Portuguese football club Gondomar SC has paid a moving tribute to two of its most cherished former players, Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, following their tragic deaths in a car accident earlier this month in Spain.
In a heartfelt gesture, the fourth-tier club has dedicated its entire 2025/26 season kits to the memory of the two brothers, who both hailed from the town of Gondomar, just outside Porto, where their footballing journeys began.
he new home, away, and third jerseys proudly feature the images of Diogo and Andre on the front, while their names are emblazoned on the back beneath an infinity symbol, representing their everlasting bond with the club.
“More than a jersey, a tribute eternal,” the club wrote in an emotional post on its official Facebook page.
“Every time our players step onto the pitch, they’re stepping out with Diogo and Andre.”
Gondomar SC further described the pair as “sons of Gondomar who left too soon, but will live forever in our football history.”

The tribute follows Gondomar SC’s earlier honour in 2022, when the club named its youth academy after Diogo Jota in recognition of his meteoric rise from local talent to European football star.
Meanwhile, Jota’s former club, Liverpool FC, has also announced a series of commemorative gestures. The Premier League side has retired Jota’s iconic number 20 shirt and plans to erect a memorial sculpture at Anfield to honour both Diogo Jota and his brother.
In addition, a “Forever 20” emblem will be featured on Liverpool’s kits for the upcoming season as a lasting tribute to the Portuguese forward.
The brothers’ legacy continues to inspire across borders, from the grassroots fields of Gondomar to the global stage of Anfield—reminding the football world that while legends may fall, their memory endures forever.
