The Government of Ghana has unveiled ambitious plans to roll out major infrastructure projects in the Ada Traditional Area, with a strong focus on road development, market rehabilitation, and access to potable water.
The pledge was announced during the 88th Asafotufiami Festival celebration, in a speech delivered on behalf of former President John Dramani Mahama by Ms. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of administration.
According to Ms. Bampoe Addo, the projects form part of the government’s broader “Big Push” infrastructure programme and the “24-Hour Plus Economy” policy, which will see $13.8 billion invested in critical national infrastructure across the country.
She revealed that the Finance Minister, during the recent Mid-Year Budget Review, announced the government’s plan to reconstruct 5,000 kilometres of roads across 166 constituencies within the next three years. Ada is among the priority beneficiaries under this strategic investment drive.
Targeted Roads in Ada
The Deputy Chief of Staff identified several key roads earmarked for reconstruction to boost the local economy. These include:
-
Kasseh to Ada Foah
-
Ada Foah to Togbokpe
-
Togbloku to Aminapah/Medie
-
Kasseh to Assigbeykope
She highlighted that the Kasseh–Ada Foah and Ada Foah–Totope routes were especially critical due to their direct impact on trade, tourism, and agriculture in the area.
Modern Market Projects Underway
In addition to roadworks, the government has also prioritized the rehabilitation and modernization of major markets in Kasseh and Ada Foah to support commercial activity.
Ms. Bampoe Addo noted that under the “24-Hour Economy” framework, each district is allocated $1 million annually through the District Assemblies Common Fund. A significant portion of this funding will be dedicated to building modern market facilities with improved storage, security, and sanitation to allow for round-the-clock trading.
Addressing Water Challenges in Ada
Responding to persistent complaints over water scarcity in the area, the Deputy Chief of Staff assured residents that the government is accelerating efforts to resolve critical water supply issues.
he referenced an inspection visit in April 2025 during an Executive Ministerial Leadership Retreat in Ada, where the Member of Parliament for Ada, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, accompanied by key government officials, assessed progress on a major water project in the constituency.
Several communities identified for urgent intervention include:
-
Otimekope
-
Ocanseykope
-

-

-
Adedetsekope
-

Ada’s Salt and Mineral Potential to Be Harnessed
Ms. Bampoe Addo also emphasized that under the next Mahama-led administration, Ada’s untapped salt and mineral reserves will receive heightened attention as part of the national industrialization agenda.
She reaffirmed the NDC government’s commitment to transforming Ada into an economic hub that leverages its natural resources, strategic location, and entrepreneurial spirit of its people.
“Government remains committed to the welfare, prosperity, and long-term development of the people of Ada,” she stated.
The announcement comes as Ada continues to advocate for deeper infrastructural equity and greater inclusion in national development strategies.
