‘It’s Premature’ – Kurt Okraku Responds to 3rd-Term Speculation
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has dismissed growing speculation about whether he will seek a third term in office, insisting that discussions about his future are not a priority at this stage.
Speaking to journalists, Okraku emphasised that with more than two years remaining in his current mandate, his focus remains firmly on advancing Ghana’s football agenda.
“This is premature. We have almost two and a half years to serve the Ghanaian game, and when the time comes, I will make a decision—just like many others who may be eligible to contest,” he said.
The GFA boss highlighted the need to channel attention towards consolidating gains in domestic football and addressing pressing challenges.
“What should be a topic is how we handle the new wind blowing around our domestic game, the high level of investment the FA has secured to make it a reality, and how well our clubs can respond to the current situation as we work to develop the Ghanaian game,” he added.
Okraku’s tenure has seen both praise for increased sponsorship and criticism over certain administrative decisions, with his comments likely to temper—at least for now—speculation over his political intentions within the GFA.
