IGP Dampare Leads High-Level Security Team to Savannah Region After Deadly Clashes
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has led a top security delegation to the Savannah Region in response to recent violent clashes that claimed lives and left several injured.
The deadly incident, which occurred in the area earlier this week, has heightened tension among residents, prompting swift intervention from the national security leadership.
Dr. Dampare, together with senior officers from the Police Service and sister security agencies, visited the affected communities to assess the situation, restore calm, and reassure locals of the government’s commitment to their safety.
Speaking during the visit, the IGP stressed that law and order would be firmly upheld. He warned that anyone found to have instigated or participated in the violence will be brought to justice.
The security delegation also engaged traditional leaders and community members, urging them to collaborate with security agencies to prevent further escalation.
Authorities say additional personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain peace as investigations continue into the root causes of the clashes.
