Israel has intensified its military campaign in Gaza City, declaring the enclave a “dangerous combat zone” under its ongoing Operation Gideon’s Chariots II, and suspending humanitarian aid pauses in a move that has sparked global alarm.
Israeli forces launched heavy airstrikes and artillery fire on neighborhoods including Al-Zeitoun and Jabalia, with reports confirming dozens of civilian deaths and injuries. The latest escalation has pushed the overall death toll to more than 31,000 Palestinians since the conflict began in October 2023, according to health officials in Gaza.
The renewed offensive has forced mass displacements, with thousands fleeing their homes as food, water, and medical supplies grow increasingly scarce. Aid agencies warn that the halt of humanitarian pauses will worsen an already dire crisis, leaving civilians trapped between bombardments and starvation.

The United Nations condemned the escalation, calling for immediate restraint to prevent further catastrophe. UN officials have repeatedly stressed that civilians must be protected and humanitarian access guaranteed.
Despite mounting international appeals for a ceasefire, Israeli officials maintain that the operation is necessary to neutralize militant strongholds and secure the country’s borders.
Observers fear that with humanitarian corridors closed and bombardments intensifying, the coming days could mark one of the deadliest phases of the conflict.
