At least 45 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza as Israel issued a forceful warning to tens of thousands remaining in Gaza City, ordering them to evacuate immediately or be considered “terrorists and terror supporters,” according to Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz.
The Defence Minister wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday that those who remain in the city “will be treated as terrorists and terror supporters,” marking a sharp escalation in the ongoing military operation.
The attacks have devastated Gaza City, the territory’s largest urban centre, destroying residential buildings, schools, and other infrastructure, while forcing tens of thousands of Palestinians to flee south under dangerous conditions. Journalists reporting from the al-Rashid road described Israeli military forces using helicopters, drones, and tanks to enforce the evacuation, creating widespread panic and chaos.
“A big part of the reason that people are not now leaving Gaza City is because of the fear and the intimidation created by the Israeli military,” said Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud.
Among those killed on Thursday were 13 aid seekers in the southern Gaza Strip. Reports indicate that civilians attempting to flee or access essential supplies are increasingly targeted, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
The ongoing conflict has already resulted in staggering casualties. Sources cited by Al Jazeera estimate that 66,225 people have been killed and 168,938 injured since October 7, 2023. Since Israel unilaterally broke the ceasefire in March 2025, the toll stands at 13,357 killed and 56,897 injured.
Humanitarian groups continue to warn of worsening famine, shortages of medical supplies, and displacement, emphasizing the urgent need for safe corridors and international intervention.
