National Security Allegedly Demolishes McDan’s Spintex Warehouse Without Court Order
Accra, Ghana – July 30, 2025 – Unidentified operatives allegedly affiliated with Ghana’s National Security demolished a warehouse owned by business mogul Dr Daniel McKorley (McDan) along Spintex Road, Accra, in the evening of July 28, with no visible court order or police presence. The event has sparked widespread concern over misuse of state power.
Demolition Carried Out in Off-Hours, Without Court Authorization
Operatives believed to be from National Security arrived after 7 p.m. with bulldozers and flattened the warehouse without prior notice or official explanation. Workers reported failed attempts to retrieve their belongings to no avail. A caretaker attempting to film the scene was reportedly assaulted.
Disputed Land Drama: Allegations of Rent Defaults and Litigation
The incident stems from a long-standing dispute between McDan Group and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL). GACL claims McDan defaulted on ground rent for four years and ignored approved payment plans. McDan disputes these arrears, arguing they concern disputed land that is currently in litigation.
Political Dimensions: Alleged Targeting Under New Administration
Observers suggest the forceful demolition may signal political overtones following the NDC’s ascendancy in January 2025—fueling speculation that businesses tied to previous administrations may face targeted harassment.
No Official Clarification Yet
Neither Dr McKorley nor National Security has released a statement clarifying the rationale for the demolition. The event raises key questions about property rights, due process, and government overreach.
