Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Players’ Player of the Year for the 2024/25 season, cementing his status as one of the greatest players in Premier League history.
The Egyptian international, now in his eighth season at Anfield, beat competition from Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak to claim the prestigious award, which is voted for by fellow professional footballers.
Salah’s recognition follows yet another remarkable campaign in which he led Liverpool’s title charge with goals, assists, and match-winning performances. His consistency, leadership, and influence were key in guiding Jürgen Klopp’s side through another competitive season.
The award adds to Salah’s already illustrious personal collection, having previously won the PFA award in 2018 and 2022. It makes him one of the few players to claim the honour multiple times, further solidifying his legacy in English football.
Speaking after receiving the award, Salah expressed gratitude to his peers:
“To be voted for by the players you compete against every week means a lot. I am proud to represent Liverpool, and I share this award with my teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans who push me to give my best every time.”
PFA Recognition
The PFA Players’ Player of the Year is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious individual honours in football, as it reflects the respect and admiration of fellow professionals. Salah’s triumph comes just hours after the PFA unveiled its Premier League Team of the Year, in which the Egyptian was also named among the forwards.
A Season to Remember
Salah’s form has not only kept Liverpool in contention for silverware but has also reignited debates about his place among the all-time greats of the Premier League era. His relentless drive, goal contributions, and ability to deliver in crucial matches have made him indispensable at Anfield.
