Tamale, Northern Region – The MTN Ghana Foundation has taken a bold step in transforming lives in Northern Ghana, investing GHC 2 million to empower youth and persons with disabilities (PWDs) through its flagship “MTN Enterprise Support Program.”
In partnership with Innohub and Fidelity Bank, the initiative targets youth-led businesses, women entrepreneurs, and PWDs, tackling barriers to funding, creating jobs, and stimulating local economic growth. Beyond financial support, the program emphasizes social inclusion, financial independence, and entrepreneurial skill-building for marginalized groups.
In Tamale, over 160 business owners, primarily PWDs, received support after excelling in a rigorous pitch competition. At a vibrant awards ceremony, Mohammed Tahiru, a member of the Ghana Society of the Physically Challenged, praised the initiative:
“MTN has broken the myth that persons with disabilities can only beg on the streets. They taught us how to package our products, attract customers, and save for the future. With this support, I believe many of our financial challenges will be solved in the coming years.”
Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager at MTN Ghana, highlighted that the Foundation’s commitment goes beyond funding:
“We aim to equip beneficiaries with the skills and resources to sustain and grow their businesses. Innohub provides technical training, while MTN provides the financial backing needed to succeed.”
Maame Serwaa Amoakohene, Chief of Staff at Innohub, emphasized the shared vision behind the partnership:
“Our goal is to ensure women, youth, and PWDs become financially viable and are not left behind in Ghana’s development process.”
The program underscores MTN Ghana Foundation’s dedication to inclusivity and economic empowerment, reaffirming its role in fostering entrepreneurship and supporting the country’s most vulnerable populations.
