Nigerian Corrections Officer Arrested in Indiana
A Nigerian man, identified as Soyemi Adesola Olaniyi, who works as a corrections officer in the United States, has been arrested in Indiana for allegedly engaging in sexual relations with male inmates.
Olaniyi was taken into custody in September 2025 in Putnam County, Indiana, following an investigation by the Indiana Department of Corrections into allegations of misconduct.
Court documents indicate that he faces multiple charges, including:
- Sexual Misconduct (35-44.1-3-10(b))
- Official Misconduct (35-44.1-1-1(1))
- Possession of Marijuana (35-48-4-11(a)(1))
Authorities say the arrest has raised serious concerns about inmate safety and welfare within the correctional facility. Investigations are still ongoing to determine the full extent of Olaniyi’s alleged actions, and officials have not ruled out additional charges.
As of now, Indiana prison authorities are yet to issue a detailed public statement, but sources suggest the case has triggered an internal review of staff conduct and security protocols.
