NPP’s Abronye Remanded in Police Custody
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into police custody after his appearance at the Accra Circuit Court 9 on Monday, September 9, 2025.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed that Abronye was arrested on September 8 and charged with “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.” The presiding judge denied him bail, ordering that he remain in custody until his next court appearance on Friday, September 12.
The case has drawn significant public attention, particularly as it follows Abronye DC’s recent move to petition eight foreign embassies—including those of Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Canada—for political asylum.
In his petitions, the outspoken NPP executive alleged threats to his life, political intimidation, and abuse of state security powers, which he claims have placed him and his family at risk.
