Kumasi, Ghana – The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has confirmed that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch will not be used for this year’s Rapperholic concert, headlined by award-winning rapper Sarkodie.
The annual music festival is set to take place at the stadium this weekend, but concerns had emerged over potential damage to the main playing surface.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Mr. Ampofo Ankrah emphasized that the concert must not be held on the pitch, cautioning that sanctions would follow if the rule is violated.
“Sarkodie is prohibited from using the pitch to host the Rapperholic event,” he stated.
“We are aware of agreements that could incur penalties if breached, but our priority is the safety of the playing surface. There are no pitch covers, so protective measures are essential.”
The Baba Yara Stadium is currently undergoing renovations to meet CAF and FIFA standards, making the preservation of the pitch a top priority for the NSA.
