Shatta Wale Takes Delivery of Purple Lamborghini Urus at Tema Port Amid EOCO’s Stolen-Car Investigation
Ghanaian dancehall superstar Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, recently received delivery of a striking purple Lamborghini Urus at the Golden Jubilee Terminal, Tema Port, showcasing his penchant for flamboyant luxury.
However, behind the celebratory moment lies a pivotal development in a broader criminal investigation—one that has national and international ramifications.
A Vehicle Under Scrutiny
Only days before this spectacle, Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), in collaboration with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Department of Justice, seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from Shatta Wale’s Trassaco Valley residence in Accra. The luxury SUV was linked to ongoing U.S. financial crime investigations involving Nana Kwabena Amuah, currently serving an 86-month prison sentence in the United States.
The seizure was executed following a request from U.S. authorities dating back to 2023, with the actual search conducted in June 2025 by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU).
Brand Versus Investigation
Reports indicate that Shatta Wale was cooperative during the operation—pleading not to make the seizure public, citing the car’s importance to his personal brand.EOCO, taking note of his concerns, permitted him to voluntarily surrender the vehicle.
EOCO has confirmed that the FBI and the Justice Department intend to file a Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) request to have the Lamborghini repatriated to the U.S. as part of the $4.7-million restitution linked to Amuah’s criminal enterprise.
Public Backlash and Allegations of Intimidation
Shatta Wale took to social media to accuse EOCO and its Acting Executive Director, Raymond Archer, of unnecessary intimidation—claiming armed officers stormed his home—an accusation EOCO countered as standard safety protocol during high-profile operations.
He further described the action as politically motivated, warning piercingly that it could affect the ruling NDC’s fortunes in upcoming elections . Meanwhile, EOCO has maintained that both Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau are persons of interest and will be invited for further investigation.
A Stark Contrast: Purple Arrival Amid Ongoing Probe
The arrival of the new purple Urus at Tema Port offers a visual statement of success—yet it also sharpens the contrast with the ongoing international probe and asset seizure.
While Shatta Wale continues to project a high-profile, successful image, the simmering EOCO-FBI investigation casts a cloud of uncertainty over his luxury acquisitions.
