London/Accra – Ghana international midfielder Thomas Partey’s scheduled court appearance in London on charges of rape and sexual assault has been adjourned to September 15, 2025.
The 32-year-old was due to appear before the Old Bailey on Monday, September 2, but the case has since been rescheduled and reassigned to Southwark Crown Court.
Partey is facing five counts of rape involving two women, in addition to one count of sexual assault against a third woman. The alleged incidents are reported to have taken place between 2021 and 2022 while the midfielder was playing for Arsenal. The charges were filed just four days after his contract with the Premier League club expired at the end of June.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Partey has joined the Black Stars’ training camp in Accra ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali. He reported to camp on Tuesday, September 2, and is expected to feature in both fixtures.
Ghana will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad on Thursday, September 4, before returning to Accra to host Mali on Monday, September 8. Partey, who recently signed for Spanish side Villarreal following his departure from Arsenal, is expected to play a pivotal role as the Black Stars push for their fifth World Cup qualification.
Ghana currently leads Group I with 15 points from six matches, giving the team a strong advantage as the qualifying campaign enters its crucial stages.
