The Kwadaso Circuit Court has sentenced two friends to a combined 36 years in prison for conspiring to rob a taxi driver at Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti Region.
Maxmillian Foli, alias Thug, was handed a 21-year jail term after pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy and robbery, while his accomplice, Blessing Ohe, alias Demon, received a 15-year sentence for conspiracy.
The court, presided over by Jephthah Appau, convicted the duo based on their own pleas.
How the robbery happened
Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi told the court that the victim, taxi driver Emmanuel Poku, lived at Bokankye near Asuoyeboa, while the convicts resided at Atwima-Akyeremade near Kwadaso.
On August 28, 2025, the two friends met at their regular base and plotted to attack a taxi driver using scissors. Later that evening, Foli hired Poku’s taxi for a trip from Sofoline to Akyeremade for a fee of GH¢70.
Along the route, Foli instructed Poku to stop and pick up Ohe, but the driver, sensing danger, diverted towards Kwanwoma. Just before reaching the township, Foli pulled out a pair of scissors and stabbed Poku in the back, demanding his vehicle and valuables.
The attackers fled with the driver’s daily sales, a car tape, and his Samsung A20 phone, leaving the stolen vehicle abandoned near Sofoline.
Arrest and sentencing
The victim reported the incident to the Denchemmuoso Police, leading to Ohe’s arrest the same night. A search revealed a pair of scissors in his possession. Foli was later arrested at his hideout in Kwanwoma on September 1, 2025.
Both admitted their roles in the robbery during police interrogations. After investigations, they were charged and brought before the court, where they received their sentences.
